Hi, I'm Mickey Mathieson.

I've been writing binary computer applications for over 40 years — long enough to remember when the hardware was catching up to the ideas, and the software was catching up to the hardware. I hold a B.S. in Computer Science, but some of my best lessons came from the school of hard knocks, growing alongside an industry that was figuring itself out in real time.

C++ has always been my language of choice. There's something satisfying about working close to the metal, building applications that are fast, reliable, and purpose-built. Four decades in, I still get a kick out of solving problems that others shy away from.

When I'm not at the keyboard, you'll probably find me with my head in the clouds — literally. I'm a commercial pilot and lifelong aviation buff. I've called Waikoloa, Hawaii home for over twenty years, which means my office view is hard to beat.
